[Escape from Monkey Island FAQ]

Q: I'm having problems with Escape From Monkey Island. Help me, you stupid bastards, it's what
you're here for!
A: The first thing you should do is download the patch and install it:
http://support.lucasarts.com/patches/monkey-4.htm
If that doesn't help, try these things:
- Change the graphics mode from Direct3D to OpenGL or vice-versa.
- Update your video card drivers.
- Make sure you have at least version 7 of DirectX installed.
- Make sure your machine actually meets the minimum requirements.
- If you're playing the game on Windows 2000, and can't get it to run with a non-Administrator account, try the following:
- Install the game with an Administrator account.
- Go to Start -> Run, type "regedt32" and press enter.
- Find the key called: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC/Monkey 4/Retail"
- Highlight the key and go to the ownership screen in the "security" menu
- Click on the appropriate kind of user, and tick the "full control" box
The non-Administrator account should now be able to play the game.
- If none of the above helps, go here for more in-depth trouble-shooting (check if your video card is on the list of supported ones, etc): http://support.lucasarts.com/trg/tg.asp?id=102
